Severe Weather Coverage -- 1o pm Newscast May 1, 2012
On this particular night, I had already boothed two hours of wall to wall coverage. With just 15 minutes before the 10pm show was scheduled to begin, I threw out the rundown and scripted a new rundown catered to severe weather. I sent my reporters out into the field for live shots in both Illinois and Iowa, because I think it's important to get out of the studio to show what's happening outside, rather than just following the radar all night. Also, I utilized the severe weather animation, and video that photographers brought in to make the show more compelling and exciting. After the second block. my News Diretor instructed me to blow out the last block and continue wall to wall coverage for the rest of the show. *Reporter content and radar coverage has been removed.
